  18. Mark Nahmias says:

Except fpr Joel, you’re all wrong. The Korean Ford is a Festiva (not a Fiesta). It was built by KIA before they had established a retail sales network in the USA. It helped Ford to meet the CAFE standards. It was superceded by another KIA CAFE conformist, the Aspire. Neither wil be treasured by Ford conosuers (KIA would probably feign amnesia also). So much for 90’s nostalgia.

  19. Stephanie says:

Don’t know if you know this, but for cars registered in New York State, the registration sticker on the windshield contains the car model and year. Comes in very handy!

  20. JOEL NORMAN says:

They were made in Korea by Dai-Woo,who today makes & imports the KIA

    • Mark Nahmias says:

Dae Woo was acquired by GM circa 1999; KIA was independent until about 2005 when hyndai & KIA merged to produce much better products.

  21. Kevin says:

It’s a first generation Ford Festiva (NOT Fiesta). The Festiva was designed by Mazda for the Asian market, but was introduced in 1986 in Japan as the Ford Festiva. In 1987 Mazda began selling it in Australia and Europe as the Mazda 121. In 1986 Kia was licensed to build the car in Korea. It was sold in Asia as the Kia Pride, and the three door was exported to North America as the Festiva beginning in 1987. The car hit the US market late 1987 as a 1988 model. This one has the grill update that came out in 1990. It was sold in the US through 1993, when the car was redesigned. About 350,000 of them were sold in the US. Beginning in 1994, the redesigned car (also built by Kia) was sold as the Ford Aspire in the US.

    FIESTA!!! ole~~~

  23. John Shea says:

It’s a Ford Festiva, not a Fiesta. Fiesta was two different cars – a 1976 – 83 version and a car that is presently in production.

  24. Jamie says:

    Its a Ford S*#tBox Circa 1990-91. I know because I owned one.

  25. Feez from NC says:

I finally got one right… Usually I’m scrolling to find the answer. I remember the crappy commercial jingle too…

    “It’s a Foooooord… It’s a FesTEEva…”

  26. Bronxite in Exile says:

    It’s a Ford POS.

  27. Colin says:

Good car for NYC. Small, fuel efficient, not very imposing.Thats the exact kind of setting a car like that was was ideal for.But I thought NY cars had to pass safety inspections, and with a broken turn lens like that, surely that would fail…

  28. Velvethead says:

Geez! A Renault Le Car. Drove one of those as a business car back in the ’80’s. What a buzz bomb of a car that was.

  29. Victor says:

Your obviously not a NYorker…if you look around enough, you can always “buy” your inspection sticker…LOL …

  30. Etta-Lee Heiman says:

A Ford Festiva. Do not know the year. I am still driving my 1989 standard shift model and loving it. I only pay $30 a month for gas and can always find a parking spot due to its small size.

  31. Mark says:

    Definitely a Festiva.

  32. barb g says:

and i pity the poor schlub who had to drive it!!

  33. Jamie Slater says:

Thats a 1989 Ford Festiva and its name was TINYCAR(tm). I know this because it was MINE. 🙂 She went to the junkyard a few years ago. Boo. RIP TinyCar(tm)!
