This is right off of Whitehall Street, about a block north of the Staten Island Ferry and block south of Bowling Green, amazing how much things change

I liked the “before” , there is no charm or character in mass panels of glass and metal framework.

Now that I think of it, I doubt that anything from the top picture is still there in the bottom picture.

If you look in the background of the current pic, you can see one small building tuck among the modern giants but it is hard to tell in the past pic which one it might be.

This Location is directly accross from Battery Park which is currently being upgraded with new pathways and greenery. I especially find this fascinating becuase i have been working downtown since 1980 and it is in that building wich was once EF Hutton & Co were i got my start. I always wondered what was there before. Love the old photos. Keep em coming.

The Passerelle has been there since 1964. It was built for the World’s Fair.
