McCANN’S CELEBRATED HATS, Bedford-Stuyvesant

Came across this just recently, on Marcy Avenue and Madison Street across from the old Boys’ High in Bed-Stuy. Has an ancient ad recently been uncovered?

 

Sadly, no, though it’s a reasonable facsimile in a style circa 1890 or so. Undoubtedly a movie prop. Note the the first N in McCann’s has been placed over a window. These sort of things tend to remain in place after the movie shoot, and it takes a trained eye like your webmaster’s to spot the fakes.
