TYPE G BRACKET, West 158th Street

From the King of NYC Lampposts, Bob Mulero, comes this photo of a Type G wall bracket lamp on West 158th Street under the Riverside Drive overpass. It boasted a Westinghouse AK-10 “cuplight”, but with a wire mesh covering protecting the bulb instead of a glass reflector bowl. It was sufficiently close to the sidewalk that a leather-jacketed, DA-wearing punk could have easily shattered the reflector bowl with a well-placed rock. This mast is, of course, gone by now and…


These days the road is lit by regulation mastarm lamps.
