FORGOTTENTOUR #134: St. GEORGE-NEW BRIGHTON

Take a walk in historic, picturesque St. George and New Brighton on this architecture-laden tour that will see us visit the recently restored St. George Theater, the landmarked cottages of St. Marks Place, stroll Richmond Terrace along the Kill Van Kull, see a clutch of more beautiful homes in New Brighton and finish with a drink at historic Liedy’s Shore Inn! Special start time 11AM.

WHEN: Sunday, August 26, 11 AM

 

WHERE: Meet in front of the Staten Island Ferry terminal in lower Manhattan (#1, R train) at 11 AM; we will get the 11:30 boat. Staten Island residents, meet us in front of Staten Island Borough Hall at Richmond Terrace and Bay Street at about noon. At tour’s end, the S40 bus goes back to the ferry. 

HOW MUCH: $20; $15 for Greater Astoria Historical Society members

HOW LONG: approximately 5.5 hours total, including ferry rides

TERRAIN: some hills. Rain or shine, within reason.
