Often, paving bricks offer a window into the past. I was on 64th Street in the Ridgewood Gardens area in northern Maspeth a couple of years ago when I spotted some bricks on a sidewalk marked Fallston Fire Clay Co., Fallston, PA.
Fallston, PA. is a very small community in Beaver County on the Beaver River near the Ohio border; the more well-known Beaver Falls is nearby. Fallston’s brick and clay works were in business from the 1890s through 1922. Subsequently, the brick works became the Littell Steel Company in 1946.
