Forgotten New York

SCENES FROM FORGOTTENTOUR #69: Flushing Meadows-Corona Park

The weather was partly sunny with a threat of showers, and the humidity was through the roof, but nearly 35 ForgottenFans met on July 13th, 2013 for a 2.5-hour journey through the secret remains of two World’s Fairs at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Included on our trip was what is likely the second-oldest man-made object in New York City, two sculptures of wildly divergent styles by the same artist, and the crumbling remains of the New York State Pavilion, for which there has always been talk of restoration…but not much action.
