Forgotten New York

LIEDY’S SHORE INN, New Brighton

Because of busy scheduling — work, tours and everything else — I haven’t been able to limp around outdoors with a camera of late, which is what got Forgotten New York started in the first place. Fortunately, I have a library of thousands of pictures, which keeps the whole thing going during down periods like this! I hope to resume a semi-normal schedule of Forgottening in November (2013). From the ForgottenFiles:

Liedy’s Shore Inn, one of Staten Island’s oldest bars, can be found on Richmond Terrace near Lafayette Avenue in New Brighton, Staten Island;  it has been in the Liedy family since it opened in 1905. There’s a player piano, an ancient phone booth—used during filming for the Madonna music video “Papa Don’t Preach”—and raconteur Larry Liedy, who will regale you with stories of Staten Island’s waterfront.
