Forgotten New York

FREEDOM’S GATE, Bedford-Stuyvesant

Looking somewhat like a horseshoe or, perhaps, Star Trek’s Guardian of Forever is Freedom’s Gate, a sculpture by Philadelphia- based Charles Searles (1937-2004) at Fulton Street and Ralph Avenue at MacDonough Street, though you will not be transported to 1930 if you walk under the arch.

It’s just one of the many notable objects scattered around town–to find them, all you have to do is walk.
