Forgotten New York

OSTERBURG WAY, Pittsburgh

I have often lamented the lack of named back alleys in New York City. Pittsburgh, PA fills the bill with hundreds of them, almost all called “ways.” This is Osterburg Way near Kentucky Avenue in the Shadyside section, in the geographical center of town. Note the Belgian block pavement in the foreground, and you can just make out some red brick pavement toward the rear.
