Forgotten New York

THE PRIME OF MISS JEANNE

For years, I was stumped about this statue of a female on the third floor of a corner building at 7th Avenue and West 14th, that appeared to be labelled “Lear.” Obtaining an 18x zoom lens, I was finally able to get a decent shot of it.

It’s not “Lear”; it’s “Jeanne” and it probably also said, “d’Arc,” because that’s who it is.

The whole story is on my 14th Street page.
