My childhood ‘hood. The subway (#1) runs on Broadway. Notice the stand-alone-three-windows-wide house over the subway tracks on your left? That was the house that my Grandfather, Matthew Joseph Crowley, a licensed plumbing and heating contractor built for his family. And that other dark redbrick three windows wide house on your right? That was owned by Jacob Freund, an immigrant butcher and friend of my family.
