There has to be a way to bring this place back, especially since its counterpart in ‘Florida’ with the same name and menu, has been doing fantastic there. I think it could happen, if perhaps some ‘family’ members were willing to take on the task and even expand the menu if possible. Thanks for posting these photos. The memories are very good ones.
i worked for tom’s moving in the 70’s and when we were close to there that was the stop. i wish the old days were still here nobody knows how great it was. all i do is talk about it
I remember saving up money to eat here. Started out as a very small shack, the pickles and relish were on a shelf outside until they built the much larger building. It is a shame places like this vanish. Very nostalgic.
In the mid 60s, when I was a teen, my friends and I wound use an indoor city pool across street in the winter. Later we would always go to Coney Island Joes. The dogs were great and the price was right. Also there was a place on Cross Island Pkwy. Called the Big Bow Wow. First stop before street racing. Great times.
