I’m glad that both Bob (King of NYC Lampposts) Mulero and I got decent photos of this specimen, and others like it, at Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, or 7th Avenue for short, and West 153rd Street at an unused ramp to the Harlem River Drive. The city replaced them a couple of years ago with some hybrid park lamps. I suppose the city needed something that would actually light up.
Fear not, several examples are still standing on the Riverside Drive Viaduct at West 158th Street, and those have their original octagonal pendant lanterns.
