I lived in the 2nd brownstone in from 8th, North side in 1967-8. 2nd floor, paid $11.00 a week for the room. Next to my room was “Pop” old gent, not much of a talker, next to him was “moma” Spanish lady, talked a lot, we understood almost none of it. Exotic dancer and her beau (beau was a friend of mine) across the hall. An active speak easy cross the street toward the 9th avenue end.. The hotel was the “Star” in those days.. Room rates about the same..
