WHERE AM I?

by Kevin Walsh

I’m at one of a series of bridges called the Duncomb Arches. But where are they?

Yes this is in Bronx Park along the Bronx River.

Such a familiar looking bridge, but I’ve never heard of the Duncomb arches. I’ll take a guess at Central Park, but also believe I’ve seen similar bridges as a child while going through the Bronx with my family in the Pelham Bay area.

It looks like Central Park, but I am just throwing a wild guess here.

Wild guess, looks like it is in Forest Park along the Jackie Robinson Parkway

Looks like the Bronx River Parkway just north of Allerton Ave.

My guess matches chris’ guess….I’m going to say Forest Park, along the bridle path as it passes under the Interboro/Jackie Robinson

That image was a tricky one, and I only thought of Central Park because that’s the only thing that comes to my mind when I saw that image.

You’ll pass beneath 2 more as you travel west on Shore Road (66th st) from 4th Ave in Brooklyn, eventually entering the Belt Parkway.

Although they vary in height & length if my memory serves me correctly,(been away from N.Y. since `72,) they dot all the major Parkways.
