BISHOP CROOK BRACKET

by Kevin Walsh

This Bishop Crook wall bracket lamp on Nassau Street near Beekman in the City Hall Park area is one of two remaining in New York City. The other one is on the 39th Street Bridge spanning Sunnyside Yards in Queens.

That “Bishops Crook” fixture looks in nice shape and may have been painted. The photocell that turns the light on at dusk seems current, so this light may still function even though the glass lens is missing. It also looks like a 250 watt high pressure sodium vapor lamp in there.

Nice find Kevin.
