59 HICKS STREET, Brooklyn Heights

by Kevin Walsh

59 Hicks Street, at the northeast corner of Cranberry Street, was the longtime home of the Heights Veterinary Hospital. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Brooklyn Heights, as it was constructed in 1822 by a cooper, or cabinetmaker, John Rogers. In the 1870s, this building served as the architectural office for the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge.
