I have often lamented the lack of named back alleys in New York City. Pittsburgh, PA fills the bill with hundreds of them, almost all called “ways.” This is Osterburg Way near Kentucky Avenue in the Shadyside section, in the geographical center of town. Note the Belgian block pavement in the foreground, and you can just make out some red brick pavement toward the rear.

Pittsburgh was once a center of brick making and as a kid in the 50s and 60s there were many blocks of red and yellow brick streets. The car tires would make a distinct sound when on bricks.
Now its headed in the same direction as Detroit with sections reverting to scrub woods.
