Came across this just recently, on Marcy Avenue and Madison Street across from the old Boys’ High in Bed-Stuy. Has an ancient ad recently been uncovered?

Sadly, no, though it’s a reasonable facsimile in a style circa 1890 or so. Undoubtedly a movie prop. Note the the first N in McCann’s has been placed over a window. These sort of things tend to remain in place after the movie shoot, and it takes a trained eye like your webmaster’s to spot the fakes.

For some strange reason this post reminded me of this classic Abbott & Costello routine

Just been watching the “Knick” a Medical Drama set in the 1900′s in NY, Series 1 ep 8 and the property and poster are in the opening 3 minutes.
